In the top of sixth inning of a 1-1 game, the Indians George Burns unsuccessfully tries to beat the tag put down by the Senators catcher Muddy Ruel. The Indians would put up a fuss with umpire Tommy McConnolly but as is the case most of the time he held his ground and the call stood. In the bottom of the same inning the Senators would score twice on a sacrafice fly by Goose Goslin and a RBI single from Ossie Bluege to take a 3-1 lead. Senators ace Stan Coveleski would get the complete game win to go 15-4 on the season giving up 11 hits, striking out one and walking another.
