Roberto Clemente, Willie Mays, and Hank Aaron: How’s that for an outfield?

This one came to us from Gary Rector’s Baseball’s Sweet Sixteen FB page via Jan Finkel.

In trying to date this photo, here’s a couple facts:

The photo appears to be in the 1960-1963 range. The two All-Star games in 1960 were played in American League parks (first at Municipal Stadium in Kansas City and second at Yankee Stadium), so it can’t be from 1960, as they have on National League home jerseys.

Since 1960 was Clemente’s first All-Star appearance and the Tomahawk was gone from the Braves’ jersey by 1963, this photo has to be from either 1961 (first All-Star game played that year at Candlestick Park), or from 1962 (second All-Star game played that year at Wrigley Field). If it was the game at Wrigley Field, I was at that game!

No wonder the National League dominated during this period!
