Polo Grounds, Manhattan, NY, July 5, 1963- The Mets Duke Snider is up at bat against the Pirates

The great but aging Duke Snider gets up in the bottom of the second inning as a NY Met in a game against the Pirates. Facing future Met Don Cardwell, Duke would go down on strikes for the first out of the inning. The Pirates would win the game 3-1 thanks to Roberto Clemente’s 2-run homer, his 7th of the season, in the top of the 8th inning to break a 1-1tie.

Also in the photo is Frank Thomas on deck, Jim Pagliaroni is the Pirates catcher, Bob Bailey is at third and Johnny Logan at shortstop.
