Saw this neat photo posted by Dave Russell (via Jan Finkel), and I knew I had to share it. Don’t think I’ve ever seen this one before. That’s Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, and Dom DiMaggio at Yankee Stadium. It from Opening Day, April 17, 1942, just four months after Pearl Harbor. The Yankees won the game that day, 1-0. Beautiful!

Thanks to Jerry Meola for reminding me about the Health patch on the sleeve, so this has to be from 1942. Jerry also mentioned that all three were in the military service soon after this was taken, as were many other major leaguers.

I'm a baseball historian who also enjoys writing. My forte is identifying ballplayers in old photos, and my special interest is the Dead Ball Era.
