The Braves Babe Ruth hits his second home run of the season and his 710th of his illustrious career in the first inning against the Dodgers pitcher Ray Benge. The first inning blast tied up the game at 1-1 but that would be as good as it gets for the sad-sack Braves as four errors and spotty pitching would lead to a 8-1 loss. Six weeks later Ruth would retire on June 2nd after hitting just six home runs and a meekly .181 batting average. As for the 1935 Braves, they would end the season with a 38-115 record and finish an astounding 61.5 games out of first place
