In Game Three of the 1914 World Series, a packed house of 35,520 is on hand to see the Miracle Braves continue their improbable championship march against the formidable Philadelphia Athletics. Going into the game the Braves had a 2-0 series lead and this day’s victory would be hard earned as they would have to battle into extra innings, including a 2-run rally in the bottom of the 10th inning to tie up the game again and send into more extra frames.

In the 12th inning a throwing error by A’s pitcher Bullet Joe Bush sent home the winning run in pinch-runner Les Mann to give Boston a commanding 3-0 series lead. The next day the Braves would defeat the Athletics 3-1 behind Johnny Evers’ two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the fifth to secure their franchise’s first World Series championship.
