Happy Thanksgiving From Baseball History Comes Alive!

Lou Gehrig helps his mother Christina with the Thanksgiving dishes

Let’s be honest. It’s hard to find a connection between Baseball and Thanksgiving. The great American family tradition of “Turkey Day” falls in that “no man’s land” between the last pitch of the World Series and the first pitch of spring training. It’s not exactly our favorite time of the year. But somehow, we manage to make it through year after year.

So after an “exhaustive Internet search” (which actually means I put the words “Baseball” and “Thanksgiving” together in a Google search), this one of the Babe showing off his Thanksgiving catch will have to do.  It just seems like whenever you need a baseball photo for a special occasion, the Bambino always comes through, and this year is no exception.

Although I did manage to find a couple of others that you can check out in the photo gallery, including one of my favorites: Lou Gehrig helping out his mother Christina in the kitchen with the Thanksgiving Day dishes.

Anyway…I hope you all have a great day with your families. And don’t forget to do your share today in helping out around the kitchen…just like the obedient son, Lou Gehrig. If the great “Iron Horse” can do it, so can we. And Lou looks pretty spiffy in that bow tie, too!

So, again…

So from all of us at Old Time Baseball Photos, Happy Thanksgiving to all our loyal readers! Hope you all have a great day!

Gary & Friends–Happy thanksgiving and many more to come!

Love the picture of Ruth. You’ve posted it before but who can get enough of The Bambino?

Also, a super shot of a The Iron Horse and his mom. Remember it from last year and it doesn’t get any better than that. Also note the striking resemblance between the real mother and the actress who played her in “The Pride of the Yankees.”

    Best, Bill

    Hi Gary:

It’s not too much trouble to picture the Babe in Pilgrim attire instead of the simple pants and jacket he’s wearing. He’d fit right in at Plymouth Rock.

Thanks for the Thanksgiving pics. They’re great.

    Best,
    Joan
