Joe DiMaggio singles off the Indians Al Milner to extend his hitting streak to 56 games

 

The Yankees Joe DiMaggio singles to center field off Indians pitcher Al Milnar to extend his hitting streak to 56 games. The first inning hit was one of three that day for Joltin’ Joe as the Yankees easily defeat the Indians 10-3, led by teammate Buddy Rosar’s five RBIs. The following day in front of 67,468 at Cleveland Stadium, DiMaggio’s amazing hitting streak would come to an end as he would go 0 for 3 including hitting into a double play in the 8th inning against the Tribes relief pitcher Jim Bagby. During the streak DiMaggio batted .408 with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs.
