After injuring his knee in the second game of the World Series against the New York Giants, rookie Mickey Mantle watches his Yankees teammates in game three from his hospital bed. Mantle hurt his knee on a drain cover in the out field at Yankee Stadium after converging on a flyball with Joe DiMaggio. The injury would sideline the Mick for the rest of the World Series, which was of course his first one. He would come back to play in many more series but his knee was never the same and would continue to plague him throughout his playing career.
