The legendary 35-year-old Satchel Paige and Kansas City Monarchs ace warms up before a game against the New York Cuban Stars in the Ruppert Memorial Cup doubleheader. The great Paige would throw the first four innings of a game limited to seven innings by agreement, he gave up just one hit, a double to Dave (Showboat) Thomas, while striking out three batters and walking none in a 9-0 Monarchs victory. More than 30,000 were on hand to see the future Hall of Famer work his craft.
